Delicious HIGH PROTEIN Strawberry Banana Smoothie with Flax seed & Oats

I am a smoothie lover.  I love to pack a ton of good foods into a yummy smooth drink.  My 3 year old loves to drink them too. He doesn’t care what color it is.  If I hand him a green smoothie from spinach he will drink it (I will share my green smoothie in another post) I have always loved the taste of strawberry banana smoothies.  You can’t go wrong with this smoothie, especially making it HIGH PROTEIN plus adding Flax Seed for healthy Omega-3,-6 and- 9.  These essential fatty acids are important for heart and circulatory health.  Plus Flax seed is a good source of fiber as well as oats.  Adding flax seed and oats you are adding crucial vitamins and minerals to help meet all your nutritional requirements.  So with that said, bottoms up with this Delicious HIGH PROTEIN Strawberry Banana Smoothie with Flax Seed & Oats.

 

 

First of all I make it in a blender similar to the Bullet, but mine is a brand called Cooks (JC Penny brand).  I love it because I can blend a smoothie right in the cup I drink it in.  This works great when I am just making a smoothie for myself.  Most of the time my 3 year old sees what I am making and I end up making a little bit more 🙂  It’s a really easy smoothie to throw together.

 

High Protein Strawberry Banana Smoothie with Flax Seed & Oats

serves 1

  • Half a banana
  • Handful of strawberries
  • one 6oz container Greek Yogurt ( I used Chobani strawberry flavored)
  • 1/2 TBSP Organic Cold milled Flax Seeds (I keep my flax seeds in the freezer to keep them fresh)
  • 1 Tablespoon Quick Oats
  • 1/4- 1/2 Cup of Skim milk (or soy milk or juice– a liquid to help blend)
  • couple cubes of ice (if I use frozen fruit I don’t use ice)

Add all ingredients together, except the ice, until well combines.  Then add the ice and blend.

This smoothie works great for breakfast, post workout meal, or even a meal replacement.  This is one of my favorite smoothies that I make.
