Early to bed , early to rise 🌅, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise (in a children’s song and Benjamin Franklin is quoted to have said this wise saying). If I get a good sleep and I wake up early, (I like 6ish) I feel like I can accomplish a lot in that 1-2 hours before my kids wake up. Waking up feeling refreshed is a great way to start the day. Adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep each night.😴
The Center of Disease Control and the National Institute of Health say this about sleep.“… Sufficient sleep is not a luxury—it is a necessity—and should be thought of as a vital sign of good health.”Wayne H. Giles, MD, MS, Director, Division of Population Health, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
The promotion of regular sleep is known as sleep hygiene. Here are some simple sleep hygiene tips:
- Go to bed at the same time each night, and rise at the same time each morning.
- Sleep in a quiet, dark, and relaxing environment, which is neither too hot nor too cold.
- Make your bed comfortable 🛏and use it only for sleeping and not for other activities, such as reading, watching TV, or listening to music.
- Remove all TVs, computers, and other “gadgets” from the bedroom.
